Aurora "O" scale figure 8 layout. The O gauge cars are long gone but the slot and rails are identical to HO track and the wide track (4 1/2") and large, sweeping turns (15" radius) allows HO cars to really fly! My 4 sons and I prefer to 'drive' stock Thunderjets and slide them through the turns. Rockets like 440x2 and Super G+ are a blur. Hours of fun!
I had to put away my favorite hobby for several years due to divorce, child support, college tuition etc. and lack of space, but recently my youngest son and his family moved out, so I have a spare room now. I also have a 4 lane HO track that sets up on a 4x8 board, but don't have space for it since the room doubles as a guest room.
This track is mounted on a 3x6 board. Both boards are 3/4" plywood with a 4" wall around the perimeter to stop cars from going off the cliff if they leave the track.
Sincerely,
James King

Kirby Smith - Hi Andrew. I have been following you for years and have ordered things from you in the past. I have my large 4 lane track for the grandkids to race on. They love it. I run 1960's vintage Aurora cars. I have about 50 or so operating cars & trucks.

A Little Bit About Us
My buddy and I have raced with each other and occasionally others for 45 years. We have around 120 A/FX Magnatraction cars, all hand-painted, numbered, and decaled by my friend who is in fact an artist. We have kept a complete database of all our cars time trial runs and race results since our inception. We have a blog for our race results and pictures at Mid America Racing Associates
We have enjoyed the hobby together for almost half a century now and hope to for some time to come. I have even constructed a 'test track' at my office where I do maintenance on the cars. And I have modified some of the old Aurora 'steering wheel' controllers so I can run some cars/races 'autonomously' as a pre-qualifier for cars trying to crack the tough MARA series. In our races only the top 24 qualifiers make the races. The top 8 timers get a first-round bye. Our tracks all include a X-Lane to make the lanes equal, but it does make passing tough. We do not permit much in the way of performance enhancements but instead strive to keep the cars as evenly matched as possible.
I'm sure we have bought some parts or stuff off your site in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Our next major part item will be tires. And that will lead to some other purchases as well I'm sure.
Anyway, we thought you might get a kick out of knowing how we have taken an innocent hobby and carried it to ridiculous extremes.
Have a Great Day and we'll be along to pick up some things again soon!
